Jacqueline Lacey, of Water Lane, Retford, pleaded guilty to three offences at Worksop Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 2nd October.

The court heard how Lacey ‘sank her nails’ into the shoulder of the landlord of The Rum Runner pub on 8th August. Although he suffered no serious injuries, he drew blood from the two cuts.

The incident started when Lacey had been complaining to the bar staff regarding the cost of beer prices.

The landlord came down stairs after he was told ‘it was all kicking off.’

Lacey, who has bipolar, became angry when she was asked to leave and then dug her nails into his shoulder when he placed his hand on her shoulder.

Lacey was also said to be ‘brandishing’ a bottle of Baileys at the landlord although it was agreed that she did not threaten him with it.

She stated that she was not drunk and had only consumed two glasses of wine on the night.

The court also heard how in the previous month, on 26th July, Lacey was ‘shouting and swearing’ at a staff member in the pub in front of families and young children after she questioned why she had been banned from the premises before she was escorted away by a kitchen staff employee.

And On 17th September she was found to be acting drunk and disorderly on Central Avenue in Worksop.

She also committed a further offence whilst subject to a conditional discharge for six-months imposed at Notts Magistrates’ Court on 4th June for an offence of theft.

In mitigation, Ian Pridham said that Lacey had kept out of trouble for four years but had recently suffered the sad loss of her mother and father to cancer.

He said: “The issue with her parents is at the forefront of her mind everyday.”

“She could not cope and had a nervous breakdown.”

“She wants to be kept out of the pubs.”

Sentencing Lacey, the magistrates said: “Town centre violence and alcohol is totally unacceptable especially when families are about.”

Lacey was sentenced to a 12-months community order with 12 months supervision and is banned from town centre pubs in Retford.

She must also pay £170 costs, £60 victim surcharge and £50 compensation.
