Retford & Worksop: Paralympians to be part of special event at boat club

Members of the British Paralympic sailing team will be taking part in a special event at Retford & worksop Boat Club on Saturday, 14th June.

It is on the lines of a ‘something for everyone’ day with stalls and activities to amuse their members and visitors for the afternoon and evening.

The special guests will be three British Servicemen who have been injured by roadside bombs whilst on duty in Afghanistan.

Two of them are double amputees and one is a triple amputee.

Given some assistance by Help for Heroes, they have taken up the sport of sailing and have become so adept that they are going to represent Britain in the 2016 Paralympics as members of the British team.

The basic idea of the club’s event is to help raise some extra funds to help them on their way, as well as having a great day while doing so.
