Volunteer drivers use their own cars to transport children and young people to regular appointments, social activities and family visits across North Lincolnshire and occasionally beyond.

Many of the journeys are regular arrangements or appointments; transporting the same passengers at the same times each week. However, we need volunteer drivers who can be flexible with their time and can be available at short notice.

Each of the drivers receives a mileage rate of 45p per mile and a waiting time rate of £6.70 per hour. Drivers will also be reimbursed for any tolls, parking costs or refreshments where necessary.

If you are fairly fit and active, can work unsupervised and are reliable and patient – we want you to come join our friendly team in this rewarding volunteering role!

Councillor David Rose, cabinet member for Children’s Services at North Lincolnshire Council, said: “This is an essential service for children and young people in care in North Lincolnshire with around 70 to 80 children relying on the scheme to help them get around. If you have your own car and can be flexible with your time then this is a great way to give back to the community.

“With each driver receiving a mileage rate of 45p per mile, we will never leave you out of pocket and you will soon see how much the service means to our young passengers.”
