Poet Ian McMillan led the group of ramblers across the borders of Rotherham and Barnsley in aid of [email protected]
The rhyming and rambling enthusiasts walked and listened to Ian regaling tales of Wentworth’s rich historical past through poetic rhyme.
They were then invited to write a poem over lunch, with the hope of impressing Ian.
Among those taking part was Betty Davies from North Anston.
Barbara Raszyk from [email protected], who helped organise the event, said: “We were really pleased the rain held off for this new and different event that will help raise funds and awareness about our work to keep young children at risk through running away safe.”
“Everyone who took part entered into the spirit of the event and let their creative ideas flow. We look forward to running this event again next year.”
Ian McMillan said: “I was really pleased to be involved with this event for such a great local cause that also helped inspire people of all ages to get involved with poetry.”
“[email protected] play an extremely important role in helping local children and I am proud to support them with this event.”
