Rotary Club of Retford ball raises thousands for Bassetlaw Hospice

The Rotary Club of Retford’s annual ball has raise more than £13,300 for charity.

More than 300 guests were at the ‘Thunderball’ at Ye Olde Bell Hotel in Barnby Moor in aid of Bassetlaw Hospice.

The evening had a James Bond theme to tie in with the 50th anniversary celebration of the films.

Guests enjoyed a drinks reception, four course dinner, raffle, auction, silent auction and casino. They main act of the evening was local band Heads will Roll.

Rotarian Hilary Zaccaria, the ‘Thunderball’ committee chairman, said she was extremely proud to be part of such a dynamic team of committee members and thanks them all for their hard work in organising the event.

The event was sponsored by Jones & Co Solicitors.

Hilary thanked Rotary club members, hospice supportes and local business, invididuals and Ye Olde Bell Hotel for helping to make the night such a success.

A presentation of the money raised will be made to Bassetlaw Hospice in the near future.

Ian Hall, hospice administrator said: “It is truly remarkable that once again the local community have been so incredibly generous in their support and it is testament to the hard work and dedication of the Rotary Club of Retford and, in particular, the ball committee that the evening proved to be such a great success.”

“On behalf of trustees, staff, volunteers and patients, we would like to thank everyone involved for their continued support.”
