Dudley Byrant, 73, received a letter in April last year from the Cabinet Office informing him that he had received a place on the Queen’s 90th Birthday Honours List.

Dudley told the paper it was ‘not unusual’ to get letters from The House Of Commons or The House Of Lords due to his involvement in politics.

The father-of-three joined the Conservative Party in 1983 and has since held numerous titles, including the current presidency of the Boston and Skegness Conservative Association.

When he opened the letter he described it as ‘a complete surprise’ and said he felt ‘excited, humbled, proud and overall honoured’.

His investiture was conducted by The Prince of Wales in the Palace Ballroom.
