Run in aid of charity

KIVETON Park will be home to a 5km fun run to help raise funds for Ovarian Cancer research.

The event is being organised by Kiveton woman Jo Wheeldon, whose mother died from the cancer last year.

The race is to be held on the anniversary of her death, 4th March.

“The reason for the event is because my mother died of ovarian cancer on 4th March 2011,” said Jo.

“This was after a six-year battle against the disease, with the consultants on several occasions stating they have seen the symptoms she was suffering from, but weren’t sure how to treat it.”

“Having been in touch with Ovarian Cancer Action this situation is something they hear a lot because it gets so little money and research done on it, even though someone in the UK dies of it every two hours.”

Entry will cost £8 per adult and £3 for under 16s, and the fun run will take place in Kiveton Community Woodlands, starting at 11am.

Parking, toilets and refreshments will be available, including soup and roast sandwiches.

All finishers in the run will receive a chocolate bar, and the top three men and women will win a trophy.

Runners can enter on the day, or via www.marchforth.co.uk
