Coun Reg Shore, Executive Member for Waste and Recycling, said: “After careful consideration of the needs of the local population and by taking on board comments from the environmental scrutiny committee, we are pleased to be able to announce a continuing service at the Mablethorpe site – which is good news for local residents.

“We’ve had to make a few changes though.

“We will no longer offer additional green waste collections and we’ve had to stop the recycling provision
at the Mablethorpe site.

Residents can still, however, bring along their household waste to the Mablethorpe site to be disposed of.

District Councillor for Mablethorpe Anne Reynolds said: “Whilst I am extremely disappointed that we did not retain the green waste collection element, I am, pleased that the LCC Executive did listen to our presentation on the vital need to retain the household waste service.

“With regards to their green waste, perhaps residents could return to composting this as a recyclable means of disposal.

Coun for Alford and Sutton on Sea, Stephen Palmer, said: “It is gratifying to hear the council listened to myself and Coun Reynolds when we spoke out at the scrutiny committee and happy the service has been kept, although I am disappointed that the service has been downgraded.

“But I still think that in the interest of fairness, Mablethorpe deserves to have their own recycling centre.”
