Scarecrows take over Harthill for show

There were a number of unusual inhabitants seen in Harthill at the weekend as the village celebrated its scarecrow show.

There were over 20 scarecrows around the village and all were amazing with a lot of work and imagination used.

The judges found it hard to choose the winners, but in the end all the choices were unanimous.

Rosettes were handed out to the winners to attach to their scarecrows. Prizes will be awarded on Sunday at the end of the three day Harthill Fruit Flower and Vegetable Show.

“The Garden Association is so pleased that so many of the villagers took part and there were some really lovely entries from the children,” said association member Jenny Shimwell.

“It was great to get good community involvement and at the same time encourage interest in the Fruit Flower and Vegetable Show.”

The show takes place today (Friday), Saturday and Sunday. It is open to the public on Saturday from 5pm to 8.30pm and from Sunday 10am to 4pm.
