School moves out of '˜special measures' and is now '˜good'

Ofsted has praised Benjamin Adlard Primary School in Sandsfield Lane, Gainsborough, for its transformation and improving the school where children love to learn after 19 months in Special Measures..
In its latest inspection report Ofsted says strong, determined and visionary leadership has radically changed the attitudes and ambitions of pupils and staff alike, leading to a rapid transformation in the quality of teaching and outcomes for children.

The report says: “Pupils’ renewed sense of pride in their school is evident in their positive attitudes to learning and the high-quality work they produce.”
This renewed sense of pride has had a ripple effect on the whole school community, with parents being encouraged to get involved in the work of the school.
The report singles out the appointment of Head of School, Sam Coy, in May last year as the turning point for Benjamin Adlard saying that, along with Executive Headteacher, Marie-Claire Bretherton, he has reshaped the school’s vision and united the whole school with a sense of shared responsibility.

“The report describes beautifully the work of the whole school team in creating a haven in which children flourish.
“The staff are ambitious for the children they serve, every child is known, cared for and supported to become confident individuals and successful learners. They say ‘it takes a whole village to raise a child’. In terms of school improvement, it takes a whole community to transform a school.
“Mr Coy has been the linchpin. Without him this simply would not have been possible.
“He has galvanised the whole school community in the pursuit of excellence.”
