School turns all yellow for Marie Curie appeal

Key stage one pupils at Anston Greenlands Junior and Infant School took part in Marie Curie Cancer Care’s annual Daffodil Appeal.

They made daffodil hats, baked biscuits and painted daffodil pots as part of their fundraising activities.

Foundation teacher Felicity Marriott said: “The children made daffodil hats because our uniform is yellow anyway. Staff also dressed up in yellow, one came dressed as a banana.”

“The children baked flower biscuits which they sold on a toy, book and biscuit stalls in the afternoon. We raised about £71.”

The pupils also painted their daffodil pots, which are part of the Mini Pots of Care fundraising activity.

They planted daffodils in October and November and then took them home to care for them. On the Mini Pots of Care Day – 22nd February – which coincided with the fundraising day, the children brought their daffodils into school and painted the pots.

Children are still collecting sponsorship for their pot painting which will boost the school’s fundraising total.
