Class 1 (reception) children were overjoyed to see the re-landscaped, all-weather play area, complete with tunnel, paths, mud kitchen, play house, storage shed, raised planters, posts, synthetic turf and a stage for singing, dancing or story telling where children can bring out chairs to watch.

Class teacher Sally Reed said: “We took photos of the work every day and made a diary. The children would come out and watch the builders with the digger too as it was very exciting and fascinating for them to see it change bit by bit.”

She added: “This area was quite small, with two patches of grass. Now it is usable all year round.”

The new equipment was funded by money saved up by the school.

The area was officially opened by the school governors during an assembly when parents were invited.
