Schools out for Skegness teacher after 26 years

Jane Pain joined the school as a supply teacher in 1990 and colleagues say she will be missed for her her kindness, generosity and thoughtfulness towards the children in her care.

Jane finished her secondary education at Boston High School and, after a year working for the electricity board, decided to attend Hull University to study English. On completing her BA Honours degree, she attended Hull College to gain her teaching qualification.

In Skegness, she started her career at Roseberry House, where she stayed for four years. At the time this was a children’s home for underprivileged children, from the Nottingham area.

After Jane met her husband Stephen, they lived above the family chiropody business and spent time bringing up their three daughters, Abigail, Naomi and Elizabeth.

During her time at the school, she has had many responsibilities, including school governor, running the gardening club and holding the school council meetings.

Jane is a keen cyclist and gardener, she is looking forward to spending time with her family and taking caravan holidays during her retirement.
