Second single vehicle crash on B1398 near Ingham within 24 hours.

The B1398 near Ingham has been closed for the second time within 24 hours as police investigate a collision.

At about 9.30am this morning (Wednesday) police say a vehicle has left the road on the B1398 near Fillingham.

A police spokesman said: “The driver and only occupant of the vehicle has been taken to Lincoln County Hospital.

“The vehicle involved was a white Isuzu Tipper driven by a 51 year old Lincoln man.

The road was closed between Ingham and Harpswell Hill and was expected to be reopened around midday.

Anyone who saw the Isuzu being driven along the B1398 in the area this morning or the vehicle as it left the road is asked to contact police on the collision witness hotline on 01522 558855.

This comes after a Peterborough man was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham with serious injuries last night (Tuesday) after the van he was driving was in collision with a tree at Ingham.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said emergency services were called to the B1398, Stow Lane at Ingham at about 6.40pm yesterday evening where a blue Renault van had left the road and collided with a tree.

He said the the driver was trapped for a short while and had to be cut free by firefighters and then taken to Lincoln County Hospital and later transferred to Queen’s Medical Centre at Nottingham with serious injuries.

He said: “The man driving the van is believed to be in his thirties and from the Peterborough area. We are asking for anyone who was in the area around 6.40pm on Tuesday evening and saw the blue Renault van before the collision or saw it leave the road to contact us on the witness hotline on 01522 558855 or 101.”

The road was re-opened at 12.30am this morning (Wednesday) after the investigation and removal of the vehicle had taken place.
