Services protected as council tax frozen

COUNCIL tax looks set to be frozen for the second year running, without any big impact on front line services or redundancies, says West Lindsey District Council.

The council’s budget is proposed for approval at a full council meeting on 5th March.

Council leader Coun Burt Keimach said: “We are in a strong financial position and in the last year we’ve identified savings of £1 million.”

“This has been achieved by protecting front line services and avoiding redundancies.”

He said council tax was being frozen in recognition of the difficulties faced by households.

Councillors are expected to vote to maintain current council tax levels, despite a 25 per cent fall over two years in the £2.5 million formula grant from the Government.

The council’s budget, if approved, has allocated money for projects including broadband, housing, growth and investment.
