Severe gales heading to the region this week

The Met Office has forecast severe gales for the Yorkshire and Humber region as we go into the weekend.

Today there is expected to be some bright spells but generally cloudy and breezy with outbreaks of rain this morning. Cloud and rain clearing during the afternoon allowing sunshine to develop. Maximum Temperature 9C.

Tonight will be fine and dry with mostly clear skies allowing a frost to form overnight. Cloud amounts increasing by the end of the night along with a freshening southerly breeze. Minimum Temperature -2C.

There will be a cold start to Wednesday with cloud thickening to bring outbreaks of rain for the afternoon, persistent over the Pennines. Becoming very windy too with gusty winds and gales over hills. Maximum Temperature 9C.

The outlook for Thursday is breezy with sunny spells and the odd shower, wintry on hills. Very windy on Friday and Saturday with gales or severe gales at times and occasional outbreaks of rain.
