Sheridan heads Pride of the Isle Awards

Isle darling, actress Sheridan Smith has agreed to be patron of the Lex’s Legacy Pride of the Isle Awards.

The multiple award-winning actress stole home for a visit and while in the Isle, gave her patronage to main event organiser Leesa Sharpe, who said: “I’m really excited. It’s great news.”

She joined Leesa in urging people to nominate the Isle’s most selfless people for the 2015 awards, that take place on January 24.

This year at the first awards ceremony, held in honour of the late Alexander Strong of Epworth, Sheridan attended and gave an impromptu rendition of Dolly Parton’s Nine to Five accompanied by her brother Damien’s band The Torn.

Tickets have sold quickly for next year’s event at Westwoodside, for 400 people.

Nominations can be made via forms available in Epworth shops, or on the Lex’s Legacy Pride of the Isle facebook page.

During her stay in Epworth, Sheridan had hair and beauty treatments, and joined in some challenging fitness classes.

The actress had a brief lull in her busy schedule but spoke of looking forward to viewing herself as Cilla Black in a TV drama from Jeff Pope that hits the screen in Autumn.
