Sherwood: Country park was a popular destination over the Easter weekend

Notts County Council’s country parks proved a popular destination with visitors once again over the Easter weekend.

With two Bank Holidays and warm weather during Easter Monday, thousands of people took time out to enjoy the glorious surroundings of Sherwood Forest.

Around 7,000 people enjoyed Sherwood Forest country park on Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday with the medieval re-enactment group Dogs of War providing entertainment about what life was like during that period in history.

An estimated 3,000 people visited the country park on Easter Monday alone taking advantage of the sunshine and great outdoors.

The Dogs of War programme featured a wide range of free family fun for the whole family, including a medieval court, crafts and other period demonstrations in the heart of Robin Hood’s iconic Sherwood Forest.

A pelican, a tool for extracting teeth, surgical equipment for amputations and a 14th century medical textbook were among the health equipment on display.
