Since the centre, in Plough Hill, opened it has been a not-for-profit organisation, but now, after more than a year’s work, it has become a registered charity.

This opens the doors to new funding opportunities, but regular income is still needed.

To help achieve that, there is now a Friend of Caistor Arts & Heritage scheme and centre manager Stephanie Dale hopes people will support it.

“After grants and regular income, we need a further £49 per day to keep the centre open and maintained 360 days a year,” she said.

“We need people to put their hand in their pocket.

“If we want the centre to be here for the future, people have to support it.”

The friend scheme invites people to give a weekly, monthly, yearly or one-off donation.

“A small amount every month would really benefit,” added Stephanie.

“For £3.30 a month, plus gift aid, that would be £49 a year, so with 360 donors we would be there.”

However, there is also the option to give time rather than cash, which Stephanie says has benefits for both sides.

“We always need more volunteers, which obviously helps the centre keep wages down,” she said.

“Being a volunteer also helps the person.

“It offers great social opportunities - to meet people and learn new things.”
