Silver celebrations for North Lincolnshire Hospice

Lindsey Lodge Hospice, in Scunthorpe’s Burringham Road, has reached the mammoth milestone of providing 25 years of care to thousands of local people, and is inviting families, friends and supporters to join staff and patients for an afternoon of celebration, between 1.30pm and 3.30pm.
Chief Executive Karen Griffiths said: “The hospice’s day care centre was opened in 1992 by The Duchess of Norfolk.

Visitors to the event, which is open to anyone, will be able enjoy musical entertainment and afternoon tea, as well as meeting staff. There will also be an opportunity to take a tour of the hospice, and take a sneak peek at some of the new-look inpatient rooms, recently refurbished thanks to the hospice’s ‘Sponsor a Room’ scheme, which raised over £75,000 in donations.
Karen added: “This event is a celebration of all we have achieved together, and a chance for us to say a huge thank you to everyone who helps and supports us to deliver hospice care direct to the people who need it.”
The hospice’s annual general meeting will then follow at 4pm, which is also open to the public.

The hospice is inviting the community to celebrate the life of a loved one by purchasing a metal sunflower birdfeeder, to which they will be able add their own personal message of dedication.
They will then have the opportunity to place it in the hospice’s idyllic garden.
Karen Griffiths said: “We have beautiful family-friendly gardens, which attract lots of wildlife, so we wanted to create a sea of sunflowers where people can come and visit in a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.”

The sunflowers will be available to purchase on the day, before going on sale in all the hospice shops.
All the money raised will fund vital care and support for local people living with terminal illness and bereavement.
