Sir John opens new Misterton play park

Despite the risk of rain, families crowded into Church Meadow for the official opening of the new play park.

First, children who had entered the competition to decorate a crown were rewarded for their efforts.

Seven children each received a £5 gift voucher from Coun Barry Cooper, chairman of Misterton Parish Council, and Anne Lee, who had donated money for the prizes.

Then the Lord Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire, Sir John Peace, opened the new play park (pictured) then proposed a toast to the Queen.

Sir John also toured a new exhibition on 90 years of Misterton, at the parish church
