Rosebud Alycia Dickinson, 9, and runner-up Princess Destinee Armstrong, 11, joined other members of the Carnival committee outside the RNLI Lifeboat Station and couldn’t hide their excitement.

Alycia, who attends The Richmond School, said: “I’m really looking forward to riding in the carriage in the parade.”

Destinee, of Wainfleet, said: “I’m looking forward to wearing the dress and attending all of the events in the week.”

Pat Brown, Carnival liaison officer, said: “They will have a really busy week but it doesn’t stop there. They get invited to things all year such as opening shops and attending birthday parties.”

As runner up, Destinee will be in the parade but the Carnival committee is still looking for an open top vehicle for here. Anyone who can help is asked to get in touch via the Carnival website here
