The launch of a new 5k Parkrun last Saturday saw nearly 200 people pounding away the mince pies they ate over Christmas.

But this wasn’t just a festive event. From now on, runners of all abilitities can meet at the boating lake at 9am every Saturday morning.

The Skegness parkrun is only the 7th to take place in Lincolnshire. A course record was set be 18.07 minutes by a local 11-year-old boy.

A spokesman commented: “We have had some lovely feedback from people and we are all looking forward to the New Year and future events.

“A massive thank you to the volunteers who made it a safe, enjoyable and successful morning.”
