Olivia Green, 19, was recently crowned Miss Nottingham after impressing judges with her looks and personality. She will now go on to compete in this summer’s hotly-contested Miss England 2016 against about 51 others from around the UK.

“I was over the moon to be announced the winner,” said Olivia. “I was shocked because I was up against so many beautiful and lovely ladies, but also extremely excited to be in the final, with a chance to become Miss England.”

The former Skegness Grammar School student made it to the Miss England semis last year. There are hopes she could scoop the title this year as she is more familiar with the process. If she succeeds she will go to the Miss World contest – which carries a top prize of $100,000.

Despite being from Skegness, Olivia was eligible to enter the Miss Nottingham contest as she has family living in the city.

As part of the competition she had to take part in catwalk rounds, including sports wear, ball gown and ‘eco costume’ - where she paraded in a cocktail dress she designed and made herself out of recycled materials.

In the run-up to the event, contestants are also encouraged to raise money for the Miss World charity Beauty With A Purpose. Olivia participated in a two-mile swim, raising £502.

“The charity part of the competition is one of the main areas and I’m really looking forward to raising more funds in preparation for the big final in July,” she said.

She added: “I currently work at Hodgkinsons Solicitors, but my future ambition is to one day be a police inspector like my grandad, who was a chief inspector in the Lincolnshire police force.”
