Elizabeth Sargent – office manager for the Skegness East Coast and Wolds Hospitality Association (SECWHA) and owner of Ingoldmells-Holidays – has just appeared on daytime television in Bargain Hunt.

She said: “When I was setting up my new business in 2014, Ingoldmells-Holidays, I had a bit too much time available to me during the winter months.

“All those dark evenings got me turning on the television and watching game shows and I thought ‘I can do that’.

“Having said those fatal words I decided I had better act upon them.

“I sent a number of entries to these shows, also applying for The Chase and Tipping Point.

“I heard back for Tipping Point really quickly, so assumed that the others had not felt my application worthy.”

Tipping Point turned out to be a nerve-wracking experience for her. Elizabeth said: “I enjoyed my experience, though even in the studio everyone else’s questions seemed easier than my own.

“One of the contestants actually won the £10,000 prize. We were all so excited for him.”

Soon after filming Tipping Point, Bargain Hunt rang. Elizabeth said: “This is two separate days of filming and you get to go with someone you know,

“I took on this challenge with my friend, Jayne Cook, a school cook.

“You get to spend a fair amount of time with the other contestants and the presenters. They are all such genuinely lovely people.”

In spite of having more luck locally in the Skegness Business Awards as Customer Care Award 2015 Winner, Elizabeth hasn’t given up on being a winner on TV.

She said: “Recently The Chase called and asked me if I would like to attend for an audition. “So watch this space.”
