Michael George Robson has been listed as receiving an OBE having worked as a contractor for the Government’s Department for International Development, acting as the District Adviser for the CHASE Operations Team based in Port Loko, Sierra Leone.

The team is run by Crown Agents, a Government agency that handles humanitarian crises, foreign aid and development.

Mr Robson has been awarded the honour for his services to the Ebola Crisis Response in West Africa.

He was one of numerous medical staff and advisers who have received awards. They have been seen as instrumental in finding treatments and methods to halt the spread of the disease in this country and overseas over the last two years.

The UK led the international response to the Ebola crisis, sending 150 staff from Public Health England to Sierra Leone to run three new laboratories there. Around 250 staff from the Department for International Development, more than 1,500 military personnel and 150 NHS volunteers were also involved in the UK’s response.

The OBE (Officer of the British Empire) ia awarded mainly to civilians and service personnel for public service and other distinctions.
