Sleaford Town Awards nominees - Keira Beeson - Overcoming Adversity
Young Keira Beeson of Sleaford was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis at the age of seven and despite suffering severe pain and many operations, including having an ileostomy, she always remains positive.
The Year 7 high school pupil has raised a large amount of money for Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Colitis UK as well as raising awareness by encouraging local schools to wear purple for World Inflammatory Disease Day.
Keira says she is planning to do more to raise funds and awareness for the conditions this year.

Hide AdAccording to her nomination, she has coped with moving up to a new school and after effects of surgery. Her cheerfulness belies the discomfort she is in.
She is described as a truly “courageous young lady” who is an inspiration to others.
