SLIDESHOW: Gainsborough basks in the sunshine

GAINSBOROUGH folk saw the sunny side of life this week basking in unseasonably high temperatures.

Just eight weeks ago the town was up to its ankles in snow.

But now spring has truly sprung and with temperatures up to 20C it feels more like summer.

Sun worshippers basked in the rays along the Riverside, taking in spectacular views of the gleaming River Trent and rolling countryside.

Over at Gainsborough Old Hall the toddlers’ Storytime group stayed sensibly in the shade and enjoyed reading on a picnic blanket.

And it was fun in the sun at Gainsborough Adventure Playground as children made the most of the outdoor playing field there.

Temperatures are expected to dip this weekend to around 10C, which is normal for the time of year.
