Boston Mayflower and Grimsby-based Shoreline have agreed to proceed ‘in principle’ with the plans following a three month independently-supported evaluation.

Chief executive of Boston Mayflower, Murray Macdonald, said: “Remaining locally based, we will be strongly placed to meet housing needs, provide new homes and deliver better services throughout Lincolnshire.”

It has not yet been decided what the new organisation will be called if the merger does go
ahead.

The two organisations will look to carry out consultation with tenants and employees over the next few weeks, along with local authorities and the wider community.

The boards of both providers will take a final decision in the summer and, if agreed, the new partnership could be launched in October 2017.

Shoreline chief executive Tony Bramley said: “This is a real opportunity for us to create a new equal partnership, combining services and enhancing efficiencies.

“While we are both robust organisations, we believe that during these challenging times, we will be stronger together collectively protecting and enhancing our services for the benefits of our tenants and the local communities we serve.

Boston Mayflower is based out of Chantry House, on Lincoln Lane and owns more than 4,800 homes across the borough of Boston and south Lincolnshire.

Shoreline owns and manages 7,900 former council homes across North East Lincolnshire.

Both housing providers are registered charities and community based, non-profit organisations that channel any surpluses back into services and projects that benefit tenants.
