South Yorkshire: More than 280 arrests made since the start of Operation Lockdown

More than 280 arrests have been made in the first month of Operation Lockdown.

Operation Lockdown is South Yorkshire Police’s drive to combat burglary and car crime.

Operation Lockdown was launched at the beginning of October and since then a total of 285 people have been arrested in connection with such crimes across South Yorkshire.

Chf Insp, Iain Chorlton, said: “I am very pleased with these arrests, as they are proof of the amount of dedication and commitment our staff are putting into reducing these crimes on a daily basis.

“We are also urging the public to keep their possessions safe by keeping their homes secure, locking their doors and windows and not leaving items on show in their vehicles.”

Action taking place across South Yorkshire includes foot patrols by officers to find insecure homes and vehicles.
