Spanish detective film set for Louth Film Club

Marshland, a stylish Spanish film about two detectives sent to investigate a murder, is to be shown at Louth Film Club on Monday, March 21.

The film is set in 1980 when Franco’s legacy causes rifts between the two cops: the younger, leftist Pedro (Raúl Arévalo) and his hard-boiled colleague (Javier Gutiérrez).

Paul Hill, chair of LFC, said: “Beautifully shot in neo-noir style, this film combines political intelligence and a strong atmosphere of eerie oppressiveness.”

The film will be shown at Louth Playhouse Cinema in Cannon Street from 7.30pm.

Entry is £4 for LFC members, £6.90 for non-members and £5.50 for concessions.

The annual membership fee is only £10 and has been held that way for five years.
