Speed campaign goes up a gear after report’s findings

As reported last week, the nine-mile stretch of the A155 at Revesby, which runs from Tattershall (A153) to the A16, has been listed the ‘highest risk road’ in a report by the Road Safety Partnership (RSP). But parish councillors have campaigned since 1995 for the 60mph stretch from Mareham le Fen to Revesby to be cut to 50mph - with a pile of paperwork to show for it.

“Everyone you speak to in Revesby has had near misses on that road,” said parish clerk Stania Wiggins-Davies. “There have been so many accidents with cars ending up in the bushes along this road it’s unbelievable. There are several staggered junctions along the road but when people get out the 30mph zone in Mareham they seem to just put their foot down. We think it’s wrong these roads have the national speed limit. It’s an absolute nightmare and time something was done about it.”

John Siddle from Lincolnshire Road Saftey Partnership said they carry out enforcement in the area. “The speed limit would have been part of the review of all speed limits in the county,” he said, addingd the council can get in touch with highways if they have speeding concerns.
