Sporting star visits college

Worksop College welcomed Alastair Hignell recently when he was invited to give his lecture When the Goalposts Shift to the Sixth Form pupils.

Alastair was joined by a number of pupils for dinner afterwards, when they enjoyed the chance to have an informal chat with the star.

Alastair Hignell studied at Cambridge University, played international rugby and first class cricket, worked for Radio 5 Live and has been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.

Speaking after the lecture, one pupil said: “The lecture was all-embracing, and everyone was able to take his advice to ‘control the controllable’ and apply this to their own ordeals.”
