Sports clubs and groups signing up for IAm Team GB - the nation's biggest sports day

In the I Am Team GB event on Saturday August 27 2016 they will join hundreds of thousands of people across the UK getting active in their local community.

I Am Team GB is a golden opportunity for every local sports club and activity group to open their doors and welcome new members and supporters. The day is sponsored by The National Lottery and ITV, supported by the British Olympic Association and it is still open to new events.

Here are the events so far in our area:

Forest Town Bulls are holding a boxing open day at Kingsway, Forest town from noon-5pm. They require six volunteers to help out

Mansfield Parkrun are holding a free friendly timed 5km run, at Mansfield Woodhouse NG19 8JY. It is open to runners, joggers and walkers of all ages and abilities. If you don’t fancy running, you can always volunteer. Event is from 9-10am.

Sherwood Pines Parkrun is also hosting a free friendly timed 5km run at Sherwood Pines Forest Park, Edwinstowe, Mansfield NG21 9JL, UK, from 9-10am.

Ride social are holding a cycling event suitable for women aged 16 and over at Sherwood Pines Forest Park, address Sherwood Pines Forest Park, Edwinstowe, Mansfield NG21 9JL, UK.

Various trails through Sherwood Pines Forest Park ideal for Mountain Bike or Hybrid Bikes. There’s plenty of riding available at Sherwood Pines, If you’re a thrill seeker and have the bike and equipment to match, why not test your skills over the roots and rocks of the red graded Kitchener Trail, or even session our Bike Park? If that’s not enough, or if you want your adventure and test your skills on the fly, why not explore the 45 miles of singletrack that snakes around the forest. Ten volunteers are needed on the day.

Selston Leisure Centre is holding a free fun badminton session with games and music for 11-17 years, from 9-10am.

Selston Leisure entre is also hosting a Family Roller Disco. There will be a Roller Skate session for all the family, skate along to chart music with disco lights to create the best atmosphere. From 10-11am.

Clumber Park parkrun are holding a free friendly timed 5km run open to runners, joggers and walkers of all ages and abilities, from 9-10am. Address: Clumber Ln, Worksop S80 3BA, UK.
