John was nominated by fellow teacher Dan Chase for sporting work at schooll, running teams in a different number of areas and gsuccess with the football and athletic teams.

He was also shortlisted for his work with the Gainsborough and District Primary Schools Sports Association.

John said: “To be on the same stage as sports people who have won Commonwealth medals, world record holders and members of the national team was a very humbling experience.”

“My recognition is reward for all teachers who ensure that children have access to competitive sport for their school and in particular the Primary School teachers in the Gainsborough area.”
