Starving and emaciated dog found in Gainsborough alleyway

The female bull terrier was found in an alleyway behind Clinton Terrace.

She was covered over with old bedding when RSPCA inspector Keith Ellis attended on Friday, March 25.

“The poor thing had no fat on her at all and her muscles had wasted away,” said RSPCA inspector Ellis.

“Her eyes were sunken and oozing discharge and there was a very dark red or black discharge coming from her rear end.”

She is described as an older dog, brindle-coloured with white markings on her chin, neck and chest. She wasn’t wearing a collar and ID tag or microchipped so at the moment there is no way to identify her owner.

“One way or another this dog has been badly neglected. Initial veterinary opinion is that she has either starved to death or was suffering from an untreated illness,” Inspector Ellis added.

“I want to hear from anyone who knows who she belonged to.
