Station open day

MISTERTON Fire Station threw open its doors to the public for a special open day to coincide with International Firefighters’ Day.

Members of the public had the chance to look around the station, see the fire appliance and medical response car, as well as the vehicles and equipment used by the Specialist Rescue Team.

Local community responders were on hand to give first aid advice and promote the British Heart Foundation’s HeartStart scheme.

There were also refreshments, a cake stall, charity stalls and displays of fire service equipment and safety advice.

Misterton watch manager Andy Horton said the day raised £190 for The Fire Fighters Charity and British Heart Foundation’s HeartStart.

“The day went really well. We had over 150 people attend the event, which is really good for a fire station such as Misterton,” he said.

“My thanks go to people who turned up on the day to support us.”
