Still no date fixed for town centre parking ban

NOTTS County Council has still to fix an official date for the introduction of parking banning order on Bridge Street.

The authority will be bringing in the pilot six-month order in a bid to crack down on illegal parking and tackle the level of ‘intrusion’ from traffic parking in the pedestrianised area of Bridge Street.

Notts County Council project engineer for environment and resources Nick Gibson said they expected the order to begin in the next few weeks.

“We are still awaiting a firm date for when the traffic order will be introduced, which is expected to be towards the end of April,” he said.

“The Central Processing Unit will be involved in the process in the coming weeks as the proposals are finalised, and will be making changes to what information is given out to Special Access Permit applicants.”
