Still time to have your say on Bridge Street parking ban

The authority is currently seeking views on how to reduce the number of vehicles through Bridge Street to make the area as pedestrian-friendly as possible.

The moves comes after a total ban on parking - including parking for disabled motorists - was withdrawn following several complaints from people with severe mobility problems and special access permit holders.

Coun Richard Jackson, chairman of the county council’s transport and highways comittee, urged people to have their say before the consultation ends on Wednesday 19th September.

“We want as many people to take part in the consultation because we need to find a solution to the Bridge Street area which best suits the needs of Worksop,” he said.

Officers have been in town leafleting car parks and more than 1,000 forms have been posted to blue and green badge permit holders, market traders and local businesses.

Stocks of the forms have also been replenished at Worksop library, district council offices and town centre shops.
