Store's premises licence could be revoked

A & S Stores, of Millview Road, will be considered by North Kesteven’s Alcohol and Entertainment Licensing Sub Committee on February 3.

Lincolnshire Police have requested a review on the grounds that the licence holder is not promoting the statutory licensing objectives of preventing crime and disorder and protecting children from harm. In particular the application states that the premises failed a test purchase during which it sold alcohol and tobacco to two 16-year-olds on November 20 last year.

The police checks revealed that the member of staff who made the sale was also found to have overstayed his permission to remain in the UK and so had no right to work there.

The report to the sub committee states that the license holder Amir Sohail took over the store in May 2014.

The report goes on to say that on November 30, 2015 police made a further visit to the premises and identified licence conditions that were not being complied with. The police compiled an action plan which was sent to Mr Sohail. “It should be noted that Mr Sohail was abroad at the times of the police visits, and did not return until mid-January 2016,” the report says.

The sub committee could limit the licence, suspend or revoke it.
