Plenty of sweat, but no blood and tears, were shed by 13 street dance groups from across Lincolnshire at Dance Factor Party 2016 in Skegness.

The event was a continuation of last year’s Dance Factor Lincolnshire contest which saw “crews” from South Holland compete for the title of county champions.

Saturday’s event saw B-Beats of Quadring, Explosion of Long Sutton and The Elie of Spalding, shake up the dance floor and turn on the style in front of a delirious audience.

The Elite were almost rewarded for their energetic routine when they came a close second in the audience vote, although the party itself was all about celebrating young talent.

Speaking to the Guardian after last year’s contest, Kimberly Chapman of Sutton Bridge and dance tutor for both The Elite and Explosion, said: “Most of the kids had never done street dance before.

“But they were quick learners and it was amazing to see them become one big, happy family.

“I was giving them some of my knowledge and experience from performing in musicals in London’s West End.

“It was good to give something back to the area I was born in and where all my family are from as well.”

Amy O’Sullivan of InspireDance, who led the project said: “Dance Factor Party 2016 gave those who took part in the Dance Factor Lincolnshire 2015 competition, as well as a whole new group of young people, the opportunity to engage in a positive and creative form of physical activity.

“It also allowed them to celebrate their fantastic achievements at a fun, party-style event.

“Saturday was a fantastic event and the standard of dancing from all the young people involved was amazing.

“All the groups involved put a great deal of work into their performances and they really came together on the night.”
