For the last year Tesco in Dinnington has been busy raising money for Cancer Research UK.

The company had chosen the cause to be its charity of the year and urged stores to raise as much money as they could for it.

In Dinnington staff got right behind the fundraising drive taking part in a host of different events including an in-store bike ride, which saw staff cycle the equivalent distance from Dinnington to Lapland.

The fundraising continued last week with a cake sale, raffle and tombola in the store on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Some staff are also busy preparing for a sponsored sky dive which is due to take place later this year.

Community champion Dawn West said the store had raised more than £5,000 over the year, with more set to be raised at the sky dive.

“A big thank you to all the staff and customers for all their hard work and generosity,” added Dawn.

The store is now waiting to find out who Tesco chooses for this year’s charity of the year.
