Supporting volunteer doctors at local event

Dr Leon Roberts MBE works as a volunteer doctor with the East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme (EMICS) and showed local people what the charity does.

He talked about the EMICS medical response work in the East Midlands and the types of equipment and medical skill brought to the most severely injured and unwell patients in the region.

EMICS has a membership of 20 doctors who respond in their off duty time to a variety of emergencies at the request of the ambulance service.

Lynn Roberts, who was at the event, said: “It was fantastic to have so many of the village and congregation at the event, supporting the charitable work of EMICS and its doctors.”

Over 50 people attended the event raising £585 for EMICS.

Dr Roberts added: “The money raised will ensure volunteer doctors in EMICS are equipped and trained to respond throughout the East Midlands shoulder to shoulder with the ambulance crews on the ground. I am very grateful for the time and effort of all involved this morning.”
