An unknown person called at a house in the Beacon Park area but the occupant did not answer the door and later found a calling card that had been posted through the letterbox.

The card claimed to be from a courier company named “DPM” and stated that an unsuccessful attempt was made to deliver a parcel to the house, with a tracking code left by the caller.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “Enquiries revealed that “DPM” is a genuine company, however, the tracking code was invalid and no deliveries were pending at the address.

“It has (also) been confirmed that the resident has not ordered any items for home delivery and was not expecting any parcels to be delivered.

“Therefore we believe this incident is a probable SCAM.”

Anyone with information should call 101.
