Trip Advisor company HolidayLettings.co.uk recently carried out research which revealed the top 20 UK coastal destinations which have experienced the biggest increase in enquiries (year-on-year) for 2016.
The results show Sutton on Sea is firmly established in the top 20 - ahead of some famous name resorts.
The number of enquiries from potential holidaymakers to Sutton on Sea has risen by 52.5 per cent compared to the same time last year.
The top 20 features some unlikely destinations but they have all seen a significant year-on-year increase in interest.
Jack Johnson, of the UK’s leading holiday rental website, said there had been a growing demand for ‘hidden gem’ destinations across the whole of the UK.
He said: “While traditional destinations continue to be as popular as ever, our statistics show that travellers are also starting to get the taste for visiting lesser-known holiday spots.”
The results are a boost for Sutton on Sea and indicate there is a chance for people to start earning extra money by renting out their home or spare room.
Mr Johnson added: “It’s a really simple process to let out your house and the income generated can be substantial.
“There’s no contract and there isn’t any upfront fees, so why not list your home today?”
Sutton on Sea seems to be getting more interest this year compared to the well known Bognor Regis, Cawand in Cornwall and Noss Mayo in Devon.
Mayor of Mablethorpe, Sutton on Sea and Trusthorpe, Coun Joyce Taylor, explained that more and more people are searching for a traditional seaside holiday and that may be the reason for the surge in interest.
She said: “It is marvellous news to hear that Sutton on Sea is getting an increase in interest online.
“I met some holidaymakers the other day who said Sutton on Sea was just the place they were looking for.
“It is the traditional seaside holiday which people seem to be looking for these days and Sutton on Sea has just that.
“Sutton on Sea has some fantastic blug flag beaches and a lovely little paddling pool and the great thing is it traditional and not commercialised.
“It is a great attraction that we are all very proud of.”
