Tanker crash

Police are appealing for witness after a tanker overturned on the M1 on Monday.

At 10.15pm on Monday a Ford campervan was travelling slowly on the M1 southbound carriageway between junction 33 Catcliffe heading towards junction 32 Thurcroft.

A white Renault heavy goods vehicle, travelling in the same direction, tried to overtake but caught the wing mirror of the campervan and lost control.

The HGV swerved across all three lanes, collided with the central reservation and overturned spilling its load of yeast on both carriageways.

The 56-year-old HGV drive, from Burton-on-Trent was taken to Rotherham Hospital with a cut elbow. The driver of the campervan was not hurt.

Witnesses should call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
