'˜Team NoCar' get vehicle for charity run

Following a £300 spend, three friends from Boston now have the vehicle they needed to take part in a 48-hour, 2,000-mile charity road trip.

As reported last month, Stephen King, Carl Bolland, and Mark Taylor are to take on the Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability Run in October in aid of Guide Dogs.

Until now, the trio did not have the type of car needed to take part – a Triumph or Standard motor car.

However, they have since laid their hands on one – a 33-year-old Triumph Acclaim. It cost them £300 as it has been off the road and unused for the last decade.

They are hoping to get it up-and-running with a current MoT in the coming weeks, so they can begin fundraising, using the car itself as the sponsor form.

Stephen said: “We want to see this car covered from bonnet to boot in the signatures of our sponsors.

“If any local businesses would like to ‘buy’ advertising space, they too would be welcome.

“The car is going to be a familiar site in and around Boston as it will be used daily by us to raise funds for the charity, as well as ensuring that, come the weekend of the event, it is up to the job.”

Carl said: “It may not be the prettiest of cars or the first model that springs to mind when people think of Triumph motor cars, but this is a charity fundraising event, not a classic car show and we are determined to complete the event for all of our sponsors.”

Mark added: “I am just grateful we have a car at last. As a team, we were beginning to worry that we perhaps would not find one.

“We were known by Club Triumph as ‘Team NoCar’ – we will now be notifying them of our acquisition and of our new name for the event, ‘The Lincolnshire Poachers’.”
