Voting opened to the public on June 17 and it was earlier announced today that Team Verrico received the majority of votes.

Paul Verrico (pictured), the charity chairman said: “We are approaching our one year anniversary and this is a huge boost to us. We are delighted that Sainsbury’s and its customers have chosen us and so excited at how much this could help us help more people who are fighting lethal cancers.”

Sainsbury’s will support Team Verrico by boosting awareness of the charity, as well as providing opportunities to raise more funds.

Team Verrico is 100 per cent volunteer run so all the money it raises is put to good, providing emotional and physical support to people living with the devastation of lethal cancers, and funding research projects into new prevention and treatments.

Paul added: “We would like to give a big thank you to all who voted for us, and to Sainsbury’s Scunthorpe: together we will continue the fight and Never EVER Give Up in the face of cancer.”
