The Macmillan Skegness Bowl Challenge will see 20 teams of five battling it out to win a trophy, with several others prizes up for grabs.

Organiser Shirley Atherton, volunteer chairman of the Skegness and District Macmillan group, said the event promises to be full of laughter, with teams made up of ‘a real mixture of people’.

From police teams to local accountants, jewellers, gym workers and hotel staff – there will be a real mix of revelry - and rivalry on the night.

“The aim is to have a really fun night out, with the ultimate aim being to raise money for people suffering with cancer,” said Shirley.

A raffle will be held offering some high-value prizes, including £80 bottles of perfume from Harrods, Stila make-up, eight cinema tickets, a touch lamp, tickets for meals and days out, a gym membership and a free MoT.

Shirley added: “I managed to sell all the 100 places by December 19. If people enjoy it and it raises a lot of money, we would look to make this an annual event.”
