Teenage heroes who came to aid of sick woman pensioner should get an award, says family

Christine Grigg, 72, was sat in her car yesterday afternoon (Wednesday) in the car park of the Millview Medical Practice in Handley Street when she suddenly became very ill.

Daughter Alison Grigg, also from Sleaford, said the only thing her mum could do was keep pressing her horn to attract attention and two teenage boys sitting on a wall at the corner of Handley Street came across to help.

Alison put an appeal out on Facebook for the boys to come forward so she could thank them and soon got a reply from one of the boys’ mum, Kathie Robson.

The pair of young heroes were Connor Robson, 16, and Luke Callow, 15, who, it turns out, Alison knows as she is a lunchtime supervisor at St George’s Academy - Connor now goes to Grantham College, but Luke is still at St George’s.

Alison said: “We are very impressed that the boys took the time to come and help and think they are good lads for doing so. We are very grateful to them as it could have been much worse.

“I will be telling the school about this next week when we go back as we think they deserve an award.”

Connor said he was sat on the wall when the woman starting beeping her horn.

He said: “We went over to see what she wanted and she said she was feeling really ill.

“She was pale, barely conscious and telling me she couldn’t see and being sick in a bucket. She was shaking and said she had stomach cramps.”

The boys went over to the GP surgery and one of the doctors came out to help the sick woman.

Connor said: “The doctor said thanks for our help and took her inside.”

An ambulance was called and paramedics eventually arrived and took her to hospital. She returned home in the early hours of this morning.

Alison said her mum had collapsed in the car and the boys found her semi conscious with blood pressure very low and being sick.

She said: “She couldn’t understand what I was saying to her when I arrived. A nurse at the surgery phoned me to urgently come.

“The doctors and nurses at Millview Medical Surgery were brilliant too - can’t fault them.”

Luke has since been in touch via Facebook with Alison who thanked him for his help. Luke said: “I was given some first aid training at school, but we couldn’t do anything because she was sat in the car and strapped in. I was just concerned for her.”
